This is my list of some of my favourite books on writing to which I return again and again whenever I am stuck with my writing and need some inspiration, or just feel like I need to contact with a soulmate in writing:
- Dillard, Annie, The writing life (a beautiful meditation on life and writing)
- Goldberg, Natalie Writing Down the Bones (gets you started)
- Goldberg, Natalie Wild Mind (helps you to find your voice and writing her exercises is sooo much fun)
- Goldberg, Natalie, Long Quiet Highway (memoir, inspiring)
- Lamott, Anne, Bird by Bird (a book I loved to read)
- Burroway, Janet Writing Fiction (lots of information, theory, exercises, a very good basic book about writing fiction, which I use again and again)
- Brande, Dorothea, Becoming a writer (this book is standard, you have to read it, if you write, me thinks)
- Piercy, Marge, So you want to write (tips and exercises from a good and experienced writer)
- Bernays, Anne, Painter, Pamela, What if? (lots of exercises and fun, gets you started when you want to procrastinate)
I am always on the lookout for more books on this subject. So if you have any suggestions, please let me know!

I didn't like "Writing down the Bones" - but Dillard was fun, and Anne Lamott as well. Other books about writing that I like a lot?
